Loyal L. Smoke, 92, of 1702 South River Road, Janesville, WI died Monday, August 9, 2010 at Mercy Hospital. Loyal was born on February 6, 1918 in Hinsdale, Montana, the seventh child of a family of ten to Fred and Bertha (Stauffer) Smoke. He married Marian L. Downing on January 10, 1942. Loyal owned and operated an insurance agency in Marysville, WA for 27 years. He and his wife moved to Janesville in 1990 and to Cedar Crest in 1991. Loyal was a member of the Grange for over 50 years.Surviving are 2 sons, Jay (Karyn) Smoke of Jackson, WI, Gale Smoke of Anchorage, Alaska, 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Woelky, John (Jennica) Smoke, 4 great-grandchildren, Kelsea and Kaitland Woelky, Bethany and Brett Smoke. Marian preceded Loyal in death on December 8, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his 6 brothers and 3 sisters.A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Cedar Crest Chapel with Rev. John Froiland officiating. There will be a visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Crest Chapel. A memorial gathering will be held at the Bryant Grange Hall in Bryant, Washington on Saturday, September 25th from 2 to 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Cedar Crest Benevolent Care Fund.
